Our ColorBands System is a unique, color-coded process that will transform key accountability measures into visible, easy-to-understand growth measures for each individual student on your campus.
Integration of this system can help build a culture of empowerment for teachers and school leaders that is necessary in order to achieve optimal effectiveness and accountability performance.
• The ColorBands Data Framework itself is an instructional tool that guides teachers with the explicit data needed throughout the school year to inform them of the progress each student is making on their respective grade specific TEKS.
• Our colorful bands provide campus leaders and teachers with a visual perspective of what accountability standard (approaches, meets or masters) the student is currently achieving and what amount of growth will move them to the next color “band”.
Movement through these incremental signature “bands” will provide the teachers and their students with a method for setting accountability-aligned goals, celebrating progress, and refining instructional decisions toward these goals following each interim assessment throughout the school year.
• Campuses that administer assessments aligned to state standards at the appropriate level of rigor at least three to four times per year have found considerable value in ColorBanding school and individual student progress. This progress is visually represented on signature ColorBands data reports at the principal, department, teacher and student level, and is easily understood by all involved.
• The team at Texas ColorBands is ready to assist your campus with staff development that is specifically tailored to your campus needs. Trained ColorBands specialists will provide your staff with the introduction to the ColorBands Data Framework, development of your campus specific ColorBand charts, and on-going data discussions throughout the year, following each of your interim assessments. Additional assistance with data disaggregation and accountability system understanding is also available through our organization.

Our Instructional & Leadership Coaching provides teachers the tools they need to support a student’s best performance. The Texas ColorBands system allows users to fully understand not only the achievement and growth drivers of the Texas accountability system but the nuances embedded within it.
Our professional development and aligned instructional tools provide instructional leaders and staff with a deep understanding of the methodologies used for each of the 3 Domains and Components- including CCMR and the Distinction Designations of the A-F Accountability System. This translates to real, actionable steps to help students realize their greatest potential.
• Strong school leadership and planning is the foundational skill that principals must possess in order to lead their campus to its pinnacle of success. ColorBands’ trained specialists are skilled at coaching school leaders to a deep and full understanding of the Texas A – F Accountability System.
We utilize our aligned instructional tools to provide campus leaders and staff with a firm understanding of the methodologies used to determine ratings and understand the best opportunities for growth within each of the three domains, including CCMR and attainment of the coveted “distinctions”.

• Schools that are successfully implementing effective PLC meetings on a weekly basis will find that including the ColorBands tools as unique visual representations of the progress made on each interim assessment will enhance and strengthen discussions between teachers and campus leaders. Determining the number of students who are growing one, two, or even three bands throughout the school year can greatly improve the likelihood of achieving a higher letter grade on the campus accountability rating.

• The A-F Accountability System is the scale that our state education system uses to determine how every school is faring. The vast majority of schools simply wish to improve their rating within the accountability system; others find themselves underperforming and are working through the school improvement process.
• Texas Education Agency’s Effective Schools Framework gives us the success elements that effective schools demonstrate; hence, it provides the ideals and supporting research that we integrate into our work with schools in school improvement, especially those who are identified, or in danger of being identified with one of the three improvement labels in the Texas Accountability System (Comprehensive Support, Targeted Support or Additional Targeted Support). The diagnostic process, which the ColorBands consulting team will undertake with members of the school improvement team, will engage them in a continuous cycle of improvement, making adjustments based on observation and outcomes data.
